Anna W. Hunt, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Hunt grew up originally outside of Nashville, TN and then moved to Atlanta, GA, where she attended high school. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Georgia, majoring in Psychology. After a year of living in Colorado, she returned to graduate school to pursue her doctorate in School Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During graduate school, Dr. Hunt spent three years as a practicum student in the public school setting, obtaining experience in the assessment of children with learning and attention problems, consultation with teachers, and intervention. She became interested in working with children with developmental disabilities during her year at UNC’s Center for Developmental Services. This experience led her to the Carolina Fragile X Project, where she gained research experience while conducting assessments with children and adolescents affected by Fragile X Syndrome.
Dr. Hunt’s pre-doctoral internship with GHS’s Department of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics brought her to Greenville. She then joined the staff of the Speech, Hearing, and Learning Center in 2005 for her post-doctoral fellowship and has continued on as a licensed staff psychologist. Dr. Hunt enjoys working with a wide variety of clients and their families, including preschoolers, school-age children and adolescents, and adults. In addition to conducting individualized evaluations, she also provides consultations to families and area schools, and conducts school-readiness screenings for children applying to Christ Church Episcopal School. Her professional interests include attention and learning disorders, social-emotional barriers to learning, and developmental disabilities. Dr. Hunt is a member of the American Psychological Association and the National Association of School Psychologists.
Personally, Dr. Hunt enjoys spending time with her husband, friends, family, and two dogs. Her hobbies include running, hiking, kayaking, reading, and watching movies.
